About the Course
Micropavé II: Irregular, Triangle, Circle & Halo
Build on single-line micropavé with four new layout styles: irregular pavé, triangle, circle, and halo.
Micropavé I teaches single-line pavé with bead and bright-cut finishing. This course builds directly on that foundation with four new layout styles: irregular pavé (two curved lines set side by side), 60-degree triangle setting (stones arranged in an equilateral triangle pattern), circle setting (stones filling a circular shape), and halo setting (a circle of bright-cut stones set around a center). You'll refine your layout and measurement skills for these more complex shapes, then apply each style to practice plates and rings.
Class Details
Duration: 5 days (Monday–Friday)
Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (one-hour lunch)
Class size: 4 students max
Prerequisite: Micropavé I
What's included: Tools provided for in-class use; materials and finished practice pieces are yours to keep
Skills You'll Gain
Plan layout and design using proportion, symmetry, and balance for curved and shaped settings
Calculate precise cuts, spacing, alignment, and depth for irregular, triangular, and circular layouts
Execute four setting styles: irregular pavé, 60-degree triangle, circle, and halo setting
Day-by-Day
Day 1 — Layout and design principles: finding the right starting point for curved and shaped layouts, applying proportion, symmetry, and balance.
Day 2 — Cuts and measurements: precise cutting and measuring for irregular, triangular, and circular stone placement.
Day 3 — Irregular pavé setting: laying out and setting two curved lines of stones side by side.
Day 4 — 60-degree triangle and circle setting: technique and hands-on practice for both styles.
Day 5 — Halo setting and class project: set a circle of bright-cut stones around a center, then apply all four styles on practice plates and rings.
What This Class Doesn't Cover Bench and equipment setup, graver sharpening, and single-line pavé with bead and bright-cut finishing — all covered in Micropavé I, a prerequisite for this course.
What You'll Leave With Practice plates and rings demonstrating irregular pavé, 60-degree triangle, circle, and halo settings — four layout styles beyond the single-line technique taught in the Introduction course.
