Fancy Micropavé I

Master four advanced setting styles: Fish Tail, Kasteel (also known as French), two-sided, and star setting.

This course teaches four fancy micropavé setting styles beyond the standard patterns covered in Micropavé I and II. You'll learn the pattern creation, stone placement, and securing methods specific to each style, refining your precision and speed through guided practice and hands-on class projects.

Class Details

  • Duration: 5 days (Monday–Friday)

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (one-hour lunch)

  • Class size: Private, one-on-one

  • Prerequisite: Preparation Class, Micropavé I & II — or prior micropavé setting experience with a pneumatic handpiece

  • What's included: Tools provided for in-class use; materials and finished practice pieces are yours to keep

Day-by-Day

  • Day 1 — Kasteel (also known as French) setting: pattern and technique.

  • Day 2 — Fish Tail setting: pattern and technique.

  • Day 3 — Two-sided setting: pattern and technique.

  • Day 4 — Star setting: the same technique from Round Stone Setting Fundamentals, applied here in a fancy micropavé context.

  • Day 5 — Class project: apply all four styles on practice plates and rings.

What This Class Doesn't Cover Standard single-line, zigzag, shared-prong, and individual-prong micropavé (Micropavé I), and irregular, triangle, circle, and halo settings (Micropavé II) — both assumed as prerequisite knowledge.

What You'll Leave With Practice plates and rings demonstrating four fancy micropavé setting styles — Fish Tail, Kasteel (also known as French), two-sided, and star setting.
